Broadcasting at CHFR Hornby RadioFrom the November First Edition Radio Report submitted by Bee Wolf Ray:

Well, we are moving right along with a full head of steam here at Hornby’s own community radio. Our application for a Low Power FM license (LPFM) is churning its way through the system; the public hearing will be held on December 5th. This date is significant because the following day, December 6th, will be our third anniversary of broadcasting.

Of course, there must be a celebration party! Mark Friday, December 6th on your calendars. Contact a board member to see how you can help make it happen in the best way possible.

We are growing. Our broadcast range is increasing (from 5 watts to 50). We have an ever evolving revolving list of DJs, with a wide and changing variety of show formats. Whatever your favourite genre, there is bound to be a show that features it; if not, perhaps you will be moved to step into an opening time slot to share the air with your island.

If you are a DJ, past, present or future, you can register on this page to post blogs and help us to generate content. Content is important on the web. If you have not filled in a DJ bio yet, please email Mathona Thompson, at liltrib@uniserve.com for a copy of the DJ bio form.

HCRS Memberships can be obtained at the Gas Bar for the same low price of $15 per year. If you would like to find out how to become a sponsor, talk to Scott Sweeney. We are very grateful to our membership and our sponsors! Without you, it couldn’t happen.

The next step must be, of course, fundraising; a new transmitter is an expense we can’t afford currently. So dig into your pockets dear Hornby! Long live Hornby free radio.

Current HCRS Board members: Peter Cloud Panjoyah, Scott Sweeney, Phil Bailey, Bee Wolf-Ray, Steve Pacheco, Dale DeVost
